OLAP and Data Mining: Bridging the Gap

http://www.datamining.com/bridge.htm

Published by Information Discovery Inc.

An excellent article, first published in 1996, its claims to be the first article which shows that OLAP and Data Mining should not remain separate components but should be fully merged.

"the outline of a unified approach for dealing with OLAP and data mining, showing that decision support applications must consider data mining within multiple dimensions, and that OLAP systems need to focus on discovery as much as on access. In fact, OLAP and data mining must work together within the framework of this theory to avoid getting incorrect results."

This is a very simple one page web site, and reads like a document. It has headings and subtitles clearly laid out. This article is obviously targeted at data mining experts and company executives considering the use of data mining, in their decision making. The content is excellent, and makes good use of tables and graphs to convey information.
