Glossary

Classification - the process of finding a set of models (or functions) that describe and distinguish data classes or concepts, for the purpose of being able to use the model to predict the class of objects whose class label is unknown.

Gentia - Gentia is an OLAP database tool that provides multi-dimentional data storage

Interesting - objective measures of interestingness: 1, support for association rules of x =>y the percentage of transactions that the given rule satisfies. 2. confidence for association rules of x => y assess the degree of certainty of the defined association.

Interesting Patterns - factors that make a pattern interesting are: 1. how easily it can be understood by humans, 2. how valid it is on tested data which has a set degree of certainty, 3. how potentially useful it is. 4. whether it validates the hypothesis that the user sought to confirm. the interesting pattern becomes knowledge.

Predict - when one or more data values as well as the class labs are to be specified.
